On March 26 at approximately 2.15 p.m., a fire hydrant began to flood the Pandora Avenue and Cook Street intersection.
“We were working down in Fairfield and we got a call that somebody hit a fire hydrant, and we came up here to discover that something in fact had happened to the hydrant,” says Len Jones of Victoria Waterworks. He also adds, however, that they couldn’t be sure if somebody actually hit the hydrant. Jones and his workers managed to shut it off within minutes. “I don’t believe anybody got flooded,” says Jones.
Passersby took photos and videos on their cellphones while the water from the hydrant flooded Cook Street. The effects of the fire hydrant incident were noticeable up until Yates street, two blocks away from Pandora Avenue.
