The world’s greatest detective comes to the Victoria Fringe Theatre Festival this year, in the Grant Knutson produced,“Sherlock Holmes and the Hansom Cab Killer”. The show is an unusual take on Arthur Conan Doyle’s characters as Seattle’s Minion Production brings together Holmes, Watson, and their housekeeper Mrs. Hudson in a comedic look at the legendary detective.
Martlet: How would you sum up your show in a sentence or phrase?
Grant Knutson: Fucking hilarious!
M: Where did you get the idea or inspiration for your show?
G.K.: A cross between the love of a woman and our background in the complete works of Arthur Conan Doyle and the 80s detective comedy/drama Remington Steele.
M: What is the most interesting experience you’ve had while performing?
G.K: Performing to a sold out crowd in a New Orleans coffee shop/pottery studio.
M: Is there a message or a moral you’d like audiences to take away from your show?
G.K: Laughing is good.
M: If your characters could live in any era other than their own, what would it be and why?
G.K: The 1970s, because the clothes are almost as cool as in the 1870s.
