Here are some easy-to-do Halloween fits inspired by pop culture
With Halloween only a few days away, you might be scrambling for costume ideas right now. Maybe you’ve been busy with midterms and haven’t gotten around to thinking about it. Maybe inspiration’s only hit you just a second ago. Either way, we’ve come to help you out with some quick and creative movie-themed ideas.
Solo costumes
If you’re going to a Halloween party this weekend on your own and want to dress to impress, here are some suggestions that will help you stand out.
McLovin
Everyone remembers this iconic character from SuperBad who famously gets a fake ID with the name McLovin. This costume is super easy: all you need are black pants, a white shirt, a brown vest, and glasses. You can even print off his ID and (if you want to go the extra mile) laminate it at Zap Copy.
Catwoman
If you’ve fallen in love with Zoë Kravitz in The Batman, this is your chance to channel her energy. This outfit is also a super easy one to put together. All you need is a bunch of tight black clothing and kitty ears.
Marty McFly
This character is a staple for Halloween. Denim on denim with a checkered shirt will suffice, but if you can, complete the look with the iconic red puffer vest. But if your style is more Doc Brown, well, we really can’t argue with genius.
Partners
Whether you’re going with a significant other or a best friend, costumes in a pair are always a classic. A theme pulls everything together, and people will be complimenting you all night.
Neo & Trinity/Morpheus/Mr. Smith
These iconic Matrix matchups make for an excellent halloween costume. Their look is super easy to achieve (especially if you have the right sunglasses). All you need is a lot of black clothing. Either way you chop this up, you’re guaranteed to wow people.
Murtaugh and Riggs or Carter and Lee
These iconic crime-fighting duos are surprisingly easy to pull off on Halloween. The Lethal Weapon pair is fairly common in wardrobes. Rock Riggs’s look with jeans and a blazer thrown over a checkered shirt. Make Murtaugh proud with dress pants and a crisp white button-down. And props to you if you have time to practice his catch phrase, too. As for Carter and Lee, both wore suits for the majority of Rush Hour, so you shouldn’t have much trouble with that. Just be sure to have “War” by Edwin Starr on queue at the party.
Euphoria Pairs
This is one show that lets you mix and match characters depending on who you’re partnering up with. Cassie and Nate, Rue and Jules, Rue and Fez, Cassie and Maddy … you get the point. Just go in with your best Netflix-dramaticized high school outfit and you’re golden.
Group costumes
If you’re somehow still stuck figuring out costumes with your squad, you’re in luck. Here are some great group classics to help you out:
Scooby and the Gang
Put together the teens’ super iconic retro look with stuff that’s already in your wardrobe. Easy and gender inclusive! *chef’s kiss* Just make sure you plan who is doing what so you don’t all show up as Shaggy (Although a gaggle of Shaggys would be hilarious to see).
Mean Girls
Wanna vibe with your friends? Lots of pink and lots of skirts should do the trick. A makeshift Burn Book would also be an easy prop to pull off, but whoever’s going as Regina George, just be careful of the school buses!
The Seven Dwarves (and maybe Snow White?)
This theme works best for a large group — all you really need is colour coordination. Bringing in Snow White would complete the look, but with or without her, the plan is simple and effective.
It’s always great to see people on campus all dressed up, and we hope we’ve inspired you to throw something fun on too!
