- Nicole (Biology student) & Kathy Gargarella (Supportive parent): “I’m excited for my first year of university and meeting a lot of people. It should be a lot of fun, and the classes and playing sports for UVic, and it looks like a really good community.” “I’m just excited that she’s away from home. UVic seems to have everything that she’s wanted in a university in terms of academics and athletics. She’s worked very hard to be here and I’m really happy that she’s where she wants to be.”
- Bob Lin (Electrical engineering student) “I came from Camosun. I’m doing a transfer, so this is a brand new environment — more collaborative. Most of the students, we’re about the same age. I guess we have more group projects and events going on inside the campus.”
- Charlie Friend (Software engineering student) “I’m really happy about being involved in different research organizations, different clubs, stuff like that, and just working a little more closely in my soon-to-be field.”
- Michael McCue (Sciences student) & Maddie Topfer (English, but “I’m switching over to sciences”): “Probably just the people. My dad worked here so I got to spend a lot of time here as a kid.” “I’m second-year, so probably just lectures and learning and stuff. Honestly, I’ve been so bored this summer, so that’s what I’m most excited for.”
