Victoria’s food forest restoration walk
The city of Victoria was a major producer of fruit in the 1800s, and remnants of this history exist in orchards across the city and in the yards of many local homes. This walk through the streets of Fernwood and Spring Ridge Commons aims to encourage the restoration of this “food forest” and promote food security on Vancouver Island. The free walk is not strenuous, but good footwear, water, and rain gear are suggested. Walks begin at the Administrative Services Building at UVic at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and last two hours.
