Thirdspace Launch Party
The UVSS Women’s Centre will host a launch party for the newest issue of its zine Thirdspace, which is a non-commercial publication dedicated to feminism and anti-racism. The event is open to everyone, and there will be snacks.

Vic Slam Championship
Local spoken-word artists will compete on May 15 (semi-finals) and 30 (finals) at the one and only poetry slam in Victoria, the Vic Slam. Successful performers will represent the Victoria community at the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam and the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word (CFSW).

Astronomy Day
In celebration of Astronomy Day, the Royal Astronomical Society and the Royal B.C. Museum present interesting activities and exhibitions for all ages such as tutorials for taking night sky photos, interactive science exhibits from UVic students, and even the physics of Angry Birds.

Designed to raise funds for the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes asks not only men, but also their communities to walk one mile in solidarity to spread awareness of sexualized violence, an uncomfortable but important topic. Grab a pair of shoes, or maybe high heels, and show your support.

Seeds of Change DIY Laundry Line Workshop
Seeds of Change will offer workshops on how to make your own environmentally-friendly laundry detergent. The workshop is also a good opportunity to learn about the sustainability of laundry rooms, the effect of surfactants (like soap) on the environment, and soft water in the CRD. Ingredients, 4L containers, essential oils, and additional workshop materials will be provided.
