Nigel Prince, the executive director of Vancouver’s Contemporary Art Gallery, has an eye for innovative projects, emerging talent, and bringing an international perspective to the scene. Join Prince, the latest Visiting Artist in UVic’s Department of Visual Arts series, as he discusses his thoughts on the current art scene. FLATHEAD VALLEY ART EXHIBITION LAUNCH
Join Sierra Club BC, The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, and the Flathead Wild team as they promote 15 paintings from six world-renown Kootenay-based artists. Artists hiked to the Flathead River Basin to capture the last underdeveloped river system on the 49th parallel. Along with paintings, this exhibit includes a presentation on Flathead River Valley biodiversity, and a campaign for a National Park and Wildlife Management Area in the Southern Rockies by Dr. Peter Wood. Snacks and refreshments included.

PREQUEL EVENT AT PLANET EARTH POETRY: TRANSLATION ISSUE READING
Join local writers Patrick Friesen, Goran Marić, and Derk Wynand, who contributed translations of the Malahat Review’s theme issue, “At Home in Translation: Canadians Translate the World”. These three writers translate the works of European poets, Ulrikka S. Gernes, Dragan Jovanovic Danilov, and Dorothea Grünzweig.
