The festival includes film screenings, media workshops, and student-made creations. Tuesday features a film screening and presentation at 1 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., seven Applied Ethnographics film students will showcase their short films. Wednesday features workshops in the Visual Lab.

This Side of West Issue 14 Launch Party
UVic’s Writing Course Union’s literary journal, This Side of West, is celebrating their fourteenth issue. You’re invited to a night of artist interviews, multi-genre readings, and music by Cathedral Bloom and Christmas Jeans (featuring members of Painted Fruit). New editions of the journal will be selling on site for $15 and old editions for $10 (cash only).

MUSIC
Shawn Mativetsky and Xenia Pestova perform “Tabla + Toy Piano” as part of their Ground/Terre Western Tour. Their Indian music explores unusual combinations of toy piano, Indian harmonium, and tabla. The performance includes Nicole Lizée’s “Metal Jacket,” Tina Pearson’s “Migration of Their Materials,” and Monica Pearce’s “damask,” as well as improvisations and traditional music.

UVic Surf and Snow Clubs Present: The Board Meeting
The Surf Club and Snow Club are teaming up for a laid-back, tubular, gnarly, and radical party. 8–10 p.m. is “toonie two hour,” meaning beer and cider are only two bucks. After 11 p.m., drinks are still pretty cheap at $3. Aside from alcohol, the night features raffle prizes, a photo booth, live music, and some local DJ jams. Not to mention, sponsor gear will be available.

This course teaches the scientific art of cultivating mushrooms within low-tech, low-sterility, home-scale environments.
