Canada’s Drag Race Season 2 Tour is coming to Victoria
Fans, re-start your engines!
The cast of Canada’s Drag Race Season 2 has newly rescheduled tour dates, and will be kicking off a nation-wide tour on June 29, 2022. The Official Canada’s Drag Race Season 2 Tour will be hosted by former RuPaul’s Drag Race competitor Brooke Lynn Hytes, and is set to include appearances from fan favourites like Suki Doll and Icesis Couture. Hosted at the Save-On Foods Memorial Centre, the show will arrive in Victoria on July 16, 2022.
Presented by Voss Events with Crave and World of Wonder, the tour was initially supposed to take place in January 2022, but was rescheduled in light of the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions throughout Canada. After the 2020 tour was conducted as a drive-in show, the anticipation for this tour to take place in its authentic in-person form is fierce.
Canada’s Drag Race is a spinoff of the legendary RuPaul’s Drag Race: a reality competition show between drag queens as they face off in weekly competitions of fashion, skills, and performances to determine the most glamorous queen. The original franchise saw such success that expansions took shape in the UK, Australia, and Canada. While other nations still feature RuPaul as the host and mentor, Canada’s Drag Race has its own Toronto-based queen to take the reins.
The second season featured a judging panel of Brooke Lynn Hytes AKA Queen of the North, ETalk’s Traci Melchor, celebrity stylist Brad Goreski, and Canadian actress Amanda Brugel from films like Suicide Squad and Vendetta. This season saw drama, dancing, and some looks fit for the gods, all of which are sure to take shape during the tour.
British Columbia’s own Kendall Gender from Vancouver will be appearing on the tour after finishing in the runner-up position on the show. Season two featured three British Columbia residents in its cast as fourth place contestant Gia Metric and 12th place’s Beth both also come from Vancouver.
The show will feature choreography from Glee’s Ryan Grainger, and is said to feature sickening new numbers from Pythia, Icesis Couture, Kendall Gender, Eve 6000, Adriana, Beth, Kimora Amour, Gia Metric, Océane Aqua-Black, Stephanie Prince, Suki Doll, and Synthia Kiss.
“Prepare to be blown away by the iconic charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent these queens have to offer,” said host Hytes in a release about the tour. “The world watched these 12 legendary performers sing, dance, act … you name it, and now they’re bringing their superstar talents to fans all across the country.”
Among the most anticipated of the queens is season two winner Icesis Couture. This queen hails from Ottawa and was known as the fashion queen during her season. While many of the queens from this season have strong drag families, Icesis Couture has a special kind of drag family bond. Their birth sibling also takes on a drag persona as Savannah Couture. This drag family is lucky enough to have their mother as their number one fan.
Fans are excited to see Icesis Couture werk some iconic looks during the tour.
Kicking off out east and landing in Victoria for its final stop, the Canada’s Drag Race Season 2 Tour is expected to serve the house down, boots. As Adriana would say, “Are you ready for this, papi?”
