How you can stay in touch with and support the Martlet
Dear Martlet readers,
It’s been a tense few weeks here at the Martlet office as we waited to see how Google and Meta’s decisions to block Canadian news would impact us. Our status as a university press allowed us to hold onto a sliver of hope as we watched publications across the country encounter error messages that read: “People in Canada can’t see your content.” However, this morning it came to our attention that some of our followers are now receiving that same message.
While the extent of the blocking is unclear at this time, we want to take this opportunity to share how you can support us. We encourage you to subscribe to the Martlet newsletter to get our content delivered straight to your inbox, to follow us on other social media platforms, such as TikTok and X (formerly known as Twitter), and to save our site to your home page. You can also read more about Bill C-18 and the resulting fight between media companies and the federal government in our latest issue.
We appreciate your support through this strange and uncertain time for Canadian media. It feels more important than ever to continue producing high-quality student journalism and to keep our readers in the loop — and that is exactly what we intend to do. While we may disappear from your feeds, just know, we’re not going anywhere.
