Using UVic President Dr. Hall’s online Suggestion Box, I asked him to consider consulting with the Lək̓wəŋən to use their name for “Warrior” to rebrand the the Vikes, which would not only be appropriate toward affirmative actions and relationship building, it would be historically accurate.
If we profess to ourselves that reconciliation is impossible, that belief will become a self-fulfilling prophecy. If we open our mind to the possibility that with action, that forgiveness, learning, and growth from the betrayal can press us forward to enjoy a relationship that is stronger and even more fulfilling than before.
