RECLAIMING THE FORESTS ON HAIDA GWAII BOOK LAUNCH AND PANEL
Come to UVic for a book launch and panel discussing the long-term conflict over Haida Gwaii’s ancient forests. Islands’ Spirit Rising: Reclaiming the Forests on Haida Gwaii focuses on Haida’s early resistance to modern contexts of legal battles. Haida Gwaii is culturally and ecologically unique, has the largest subspecies of black bears, and is said to have been inhabited as early as 13 000 years ago. Panelists note these and many other important concerns Haida Gwaii is dealing with today. The panel will be followed by a book viewing and signing.

BEEROLOGY 101 AT UVIC
Celebrate the last week of classes with beer tasting from eight local, craft breweries at the SUB. Hear live sets from DJs AWood X LeahBabe and Manitoulin, while sampling and socializing. Additionally, Thirsty Writer Joe Weibe will be at the event selling and signing books for $20.

SWEET PLOT, THE NEW SOULS, AND SEX WEATHER LIVE AT LOGAN’S
California-based band Sweet Plot is driving up the coast to rock out for Victoria with local bands The New Souls and Sex Weather. Sweet Plot’s sound is described as rock n’ roll, funk, and soul, creating a bold music blend inspired by San Francisco. All dancers and wallflowers welcome.
